AutoCAD® 2000i and AutoCAD LT® 2000i Service Pack Readme

======================================================

Thank you for downloading Service Pack 2 for AutoCAD 2000i and AutoCAD LT 2000i. This service pack, which addresses a number of customer requests, should improve your experience with AutoCAD 2000i and AutoCAD LT 2000i. Please read the following information to take advantage of this service pack.

You should save this Readme to your hard drive or print a copy for your reference.

===============================

Who Should Install the Service Pack

===============================

This Readme applies to the English locked and unlocked versions of AutoCAD 2000i and AutoCAD LT 2000i. This service pack should not be installed on other versions of AutoCAD or AutoCAD desktop applications.

You should also review the section "Summary of AutoCAD 2000i and AutoCAD LT 2000i Service Pack Fixes" to see if any problems that you are having are resolved by the service pack.

This service pack contains all of the fixes available in the first service pack. If you installed the first service pack, you need to install this service pack to obtain the latest fixes.

Locked and Unlocked Service Packs

================================

If you download the service pack using the Live Update method, the appropriate service pack version is automatically identified. If you decide to download the service pack manually, use the following guidelines to determine which version to apply:

Install the unlocked version of the service pack if you are using an ADLM network version of AutoCAD 2000i. Previously, you needed to install the locked version of AutoCAD.

Install the locked version of the service pack if

The text imprinted on the installation CD for your product includes the word "Locked" for US Domestic only versions of AutoCAD 2000i.
You are using a student educational, trial, or non-US Domestic version of AutoCAD 2000i
You are using a student educational or trial version of AutoCAD LT® 2000i

General Usage Information

=======================

There is no way to uninstall the AutoCAD 2000i and AutoCAD LT 2000i Service Pack 2. It is strongly recommended that you back up all files that the service pack installs so you can restore AutoCAD 2000i or AutoCAD LT 2000i to its previous state, if necessary.

After you install the update, your user profile is switched to <Unnamed Profile>, and the acad.mnu, acad.mns, acad.mnr, acad.mnl, and acad.mnc files may be recompiled. Any toolbar or menu customizations that were part of your former user profile could be lost. You can easily switch back to the named profile after the update. To ensure that you can restore your menu settings later, however, be sure to archive all your menu files before the update. See the section "Important File Backup Information" later in the Readme.

The Show on Start option in Active Assistance is reset after an update. All other options set in the Active Assistance Settings dialog box are retained.

Download progress may not be indicated during the update.

If you would like to control the update notification in your office and you have disabled the notifications, you can use the AutoCAD® Today Bulletin Board.

Important! Updated Autodesk® Heidi® Pentium III Components

=====================================================

During the Service Pack 2 update, the files heidi7.dll and szb7.hdi are overwritten by older versions. You need the newer files in order to take advantage of graphics performance enhancements for the Pentium III processor.

If you have a Pentium III-based computer and have previously installed Heidi components (located in the PentiumIII subdirectory on your AutoCAD CD), do the following:

Install Service Pack 2. Download the updated heidi7.dll and szb7.hdi files, which are available on our product support Web site at http://www.autodesk.com/support.
Copy the files to the same location as your existing heidi7.dll and szb7.hdi files.

Live Update Network Deployment Instructions (AutoCAD 2000i only)

==========================================================

On network-deployed AutoCAD installations, there are no Live Update notifications on the Autodesk Point A portion of the Today window. As a result, you must download updates from the Point A site using an Internet browser and then manually apply them at each workstation.

During the installation of an update, AutoCAD should not be running on any of the client machines, or else the installation image on the server may be corrupted.

It is also strongly recommended that you apply the update to the administrator machine first. (This is the computer from which the network deployment was installed). Once you apply the update on the administrator machine, start applying the update on client systems. You must apply an update to each client machine before running AutoCAD.

During the installation of an update, you are prompted for the original installation CD or network image. Make sure that each computer is connected to the network location where the install image resides. After you have applied an update to the network image, you need to apply an update to each newly created client you set up.
